REALTOR.com - Enhanced Listings?
Posted Oct 21, 2007 @ 6:59 am, Viewed by 849 Visitors, Read 874 Times. It is really my own beef with semantics, but it is important in my view...
Enhanced listings on REALTOR.com
In my view we send you guys at REALTOR.com freshly minted new listing EVERY DAY off of the assembly line. They are COMPLETE with good descriptions, tons of data and more than a few photos. We do our best as REALTORS to market the home online....Then you guys go and and do this with them...

You mangled the comments and reduce the photos to only one! Then we get a phone call from your sales team that says..."How about we put it back to original condition for say "$1,200 bucks a year" (hypothetical, but REAL example).
Tell me REALTOR.com ... is this truly enhanced?
Meanwhile EVERYONE else in the free world (Trulia, Googlebase, Zillow, and who knows how many others...) seems DESPERATE for us to upload those listings to them for no fee...(I don;t agree with that either, but that is another story...)Note to REALTOR.com:
For the record, guys...

This is enhanced!

Common Eric, Your last rant on Realtor.com?? No way there is way more stuff you could be pushing them to start doing right. Love the cars though. I bet the leadership of R.com does not even drive themselves around though so they will not get that comparison ether.
Good stuff Eric. Unfortunately, R.com doesn't even know what a blog is so they won't be reading your posts. You know I share your view on this and think posts like this are important to educate consumers and Realtors alike.
LMAO - I love the comparisons. Sadly though the cost of that enhanced car is about what Realtor.com wants for their enhanced listing. Two thumbs down to R.com, or is it two fingers up?
Indy REALTOR-- Thanks for the kind words, but somehow I think they are reading us! Google: Realtor.com enhanced listings You gotta love blogging at REW! (grin) @Dennis--you crack me up! (read:It's the fingers.)
Wish it was only $1200 a year...then again we do constantly close deals from R.com leads.
Ken! Good to see ya...Good to hear that you are closing deals off of 'em...our office experienced VERY little in the way of deals from them. Seems like a matter of weighing out cost vs benefit. BTW- Heckuva a good time with you at PubCon...hope all is well in Chicago...was the rest of the 'Classic" fun? Too bad Jay and I had to catch planes...
It was great! Next year you need to stay a little longer so we can have more time for drinks...and naturally time to come up with more ideas. Think that we will need 3 months to test everything we came up with. BTW, let me know when you are ready to test the blog thing, sure we can get enough links from REW people to test it.
Sounds great,,,I am pumped about that as well. I came back to an office full of projects, but should have project 1 up an running on all cylinders well before Christmas. Plenty of links around to test it out. We can add data to it and start it up Jan 1...Nice way to start the year! You are right about us thinking up a year's work of ideas in a few days...very cool.
You know I since I switched to remax here in bellingham they automatically up load all of our listings and enhance them for only 30 bucks a month its a pretty good deal. But if it wasn't for the price then I wouldn't even sign up
I get more visitors to my listings on www.MLSdetails.com than on Realtor.com enhanced listings. One even better, MLSdetails is free... yes free. My photos are larger, clearer, has their own webpage for SEO, virtual tour, link to my website and more. Its simplicity is what attracts buyers I think.
Agreed! I am a new Realtor, and after paying the outrageous dues and going over the benefits of becoming a "Realtor" and on top of that having to buy every little extra feature in order to stand out in their website, I am starting to think it is a scam. Keep up the good work.

OK Eric, First, I'd like to know how you got a photo of my car
. Second, I just want to say that I could not agree with your position on this more. Lots and lots have been written about this subject, but R.com just doesn't seem to get it. It's a shame because they have moved from a helpful resource to a for profit competitor in markets around the country.
